"Hey Slack" is a song I wrote for the still unreleased album Honey/Moon/Life. Honey/Moon/Life tells the story of Simon and Shadow. In this piece, Simon finds himself back in the town from which he had to escape from many years prior. He is on his way to see the Telephone Man, who will deliver Simon some very bad news...

Jeremy Wilson - guitar, vocals

Lyrics

HEY SLACK

Hey slack I’m back
In the city where I lost track
Thinking ‘bout old friends and enemies

Some are gone or just lost
Some have bought “it” at such a cost
High tech relations have begun

Hey Worm, what’s the word
Telling me that I’m absurd
That rock’n’roll is for Trash?

Congratulations M-M-My Generation
Money’s made for complication
And it took only seconds flat

To turn to crap

You can laugh
You can cry
Work for your money until you die

You can win
You can loose
Or you could just hold your breath until you turn yourself blue!

You can laugh
You can cry
Work for your money ‘til you die
You can win
You can loose
Or you could just hold your breath ‘til you turn yourself blue!

Now, how I’m doin’ I should say
Is not very good and in some ways
I’m just another guy who’s got a board over his door

(Work it on out…)

Full of foolishness I feel
Because that is what I must say
Instead of who I am now

(Work it on out…)

And you’d think that I’d know now why
But I guess until I die
I ain’t goin’ nowhere

(Work it on out…)

And full of hope and full of joy
Full of dope man I don’t know
If I got somethin’ else,
I’ll say…
I am one
You can laugh
You can cry
Work for your money until you die

You can win
You can loose
Or you could just hold your breath until you turn yourself blue!

Feeling lost I found my head, my heart, my temperature, my soul,
My God, my strings, my hat, my guitar, my world, my hands, my this, my that

Animal/Animus
Your drugs and your love and your bliss and your hugs
And I ask you what?
I just don’t hear you speak
I don’t understand this Nothin’
Your dream
Is there nothing or more to see?

(Work it on out, work it on out, work it on out, work it on out, work it on out, work it on out, work it on out)
